Dr. Rivka Edery is a skilled, committed and empathetic therapist focusing on trauma and complex PTSD. She holds a doctorate in clinical and applied psychology and is licensed as a clinical social worker. Course Description

This in-depth CE course delves into how Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can be used to tackle the overwhelming consequences of abandonment wounds. Attendees will gain important understanding of the toll of abandonment, the fundamental tenets of ACT, and proven methods for incorporating ACT into their clinical practices.

Credits

This course is eligible for 2 continuing education credits.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Implement ACT strategies to encourage acceptance of emotions, defuse from thoughts, and guide clients with abandonment issues towards actions aligned with their values.
  2. Contrast ACT with popular therapeutic approaches for addressing abandonment wounds, such, as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and attachment-based therapies.
