Dr. Rivka Edery is a skilled, committed and empathetic therapist focusing on trauma and complex PTSD. She holds a doctorate in clinical and applied psychology and is licensed as a clinical social worker. Her dedication lies in aiding individuals in overcoming abandonment issues, complex trauma and attachment challenges. Employing proven methods such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) she supports clients in their quest, for strength, health and secure connections.

Course Description

This 2-hour continuing education workshop immerses participants in the practical application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), building on the six core principles introduced in Workshop 1. Through interactive exercises, case examples, and group discussions, attendees will explore and practice key techniques—defusion, acceptance, present moment awareness, self-as-context, values clarification, and committed action. Designed for mental health professionals, educators, and caregivers, the course equips participants with tools to enhance psychological flexibility and support values-driven behavior in themselves and their clients. Participants will leave with a handout summarizing ACT techniques for ongoing use. Notably, this workshop offers strategies to bolster resilience in foster care settings, where ACT’s focus on accepting emotions and committing to meaningful actions can empower caregivers and youth navigating complex challenges. Prior attendance at Workshop 1 is recommended.
