Course Description

This 2-hour continuing education workshop delves into Internal Family Systems (IFS), a transformative approach to understanding and harmonizing the mind’s inner “parts.” Building on Workshop 1, participants will explore the roles of Managers, Exiles, and Firefighters, learning to distinguish their protective functions and foster compassionate connections from the core Self. Through interactive exercises, a live demonstration, and practical techniques like Focusing, Direct Access, and Unblending, attendees will gain tools to address internal conflicts and polarizations—such as balancing assertiveness with fear of rejection. The workshop concludes with a Q&A and a take-home handout to support ongoing practice. Designed for mental health professionals, educators, and caregivers, this course offers valuable insights for supporting emotional resilience in foster care, where understanding and soothing complex inner dynamics can enhance stability and healing for children and families. No prior IFS experience is required beyond Workshop 1.
